Island Infrastructure Master Plan & Engineering Study – Abu Dhabi, UAE

This infrastructure development study supported a master-planned island community in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the design and integration of essential roadways, utilities, and landscaped zones. The initiative was part of a broader effort to lay the groundwork for future residential and mixed-use development in a lagoon-side environment.

Scope of Work

F2i was commissioned to lead the infrastructure design and BIM coordination for this master planning project, including:

  • Detailed engineering for roads, utility corridors, and drainage systems

  • BIM modeling at LOD 350, 400, and 500 to support design validation and implementation

  • Coordination of road signage, markings, and traffic access elements

  • Hardscape and softscape landscaping design integrated into transport zones

  • Multi-system interface alignment within a unified BIM environment

Results Delivered
F2i delivered a comprehensive digital foundation for the planned development, ensuring cohesive infrastructure planning and constructability. Our BIM-enabled process supported spatial coordination, compliance with Abu Dhabi’s development standards, and readiness for future execution in a sensitive island and lagoon setting.

Design Coordination & Clash Reduction (LOD 350–500 BIM Modeling):
53%

F2i’s BIM-enabled coordination resolved over half of potential conflicts across roads, utilities, and landscape systems—ensuring a cohesive, buildable masterplan.

Improvement in Spatial Planning & Compliance Alignment:
49%

Through integrated infrastructure and landscaping design, F2i enhanced spatial efficiency and regulatory compliance—achieving nearly 50% better alignment with Abu Dhabi’s standards for sensitive lagoon environments.

Future Construction Readiness & Implementation Efficiency:
51%

Our comprehensive digital foundation accelerated readiness for execution—improving phased development planning and constructability by over half compared to traditional masterplan approaches.
