Design Engineer – Structures (3 to 6 Years Experience)

Job Purpose
To support the structural design and analysis of buildings and water infrastructure projects such as treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations, sump structures, and hydraulic facilities. Engineers at this level will work under the guidance of a Team Leader, gradually taking ownership of design tasks while developing strong technical capability.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Assist in structural analysis and RCC design of reservoirs, tanks, buildings, and hydraulic structures.
- Perform FE modelling and run analysis using structural software under supervision.
- Prepare structural calculation reports, design basis documents, and preliminary sizing.
- Support design automation for repetitive calculations using Excel/VBA when required.
- Conduct basic structural assessments and propose initial strengthening solutions.
Drawings & Deliverables
- Prepare GA drawings, reinforcement detailing, and calculation sketches.
- Coordinate with CAD/BIM teams for preparation of tender/IFC deliverables.
- Assist in BOQ preparation, material estimates, and design documentation.
Coordination
- Collaborate with hydraulic, MEP, geotechnical, and architectural teams.
- Support client communication during design clarifications and design updates.
- Participate in technical meetings and design reviews with senior engineers.
Software Skills
- STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 (basic to intermediate level).
- AutoCAD; Revit Structure (preferred).
- Good MS Excel skills, basic VBA preferred.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Structures preferred.
- 3–6 years of experience in RCC design and analysis for water and buildings projects.
- Strong understanding of IS codes; awareness of Eurocode/ACI is an advantage.
- Ability to work under supervision and deliver quality outputs within timelines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
