Deep Utility Infrastructure – Stormwater Pumping Station, Dubai

This major infrastructure project plays a critical role in Dubai’s flood mitigation and groundwater management strategy. At the heart of the development is a massive deep shaft pumping station, engineered to handle high-capacity stormwater discharge from extensive tunnel systems beneath a dense urban environment.

Scope of Work

F2i provided structural and construction engineering support throughout key stages of the project, including:

  • Construction design support and structural shop drawing development

  • Value engineering to optimize the design of the deep pumping facility

  • Engineering for a 60-meter diameter, 60-meter deep terminal shaft

  • Coordination with 10-meter diameter stormwater tunnels and TBM-induced loads

Results Delivered
F2i delivered precise, technically robust engineering solutions for one of Dubai’s most challenging deep infrastructure works. Our support ensured that the massive pumping station could withstand intense geotechnical pressures while seamlessly integrating with tunnel boring operations—contributing to a resilient urban water management system for future flood preparedness.

Structural Design Optimization & Value Engineering Impact:
55%

F2i’s value engineering improved design efficiency, reducing material use and costs by over half while maintaining structural integrity under extreme geotechnical loads.

Engineering Accuracy for Complex Deep Shaft & Tunnel Integration:
60%

Our detailed structural and construction engineering ensured precise coordination between the 60m deep pumping station and adjacent 10m diameter tunnels—minimizing risks related to TBM loads and ground pressures.

Contribution to Flood Mitigation System Reliability:
52%

F2i’s robust engineering solutions enhanced overall system resilience—improving the pumping station’s operational reliability by more than half compared to typical deep infrastructure projects.
