Smart Circular City Water Infrastructure – Saudi Arabia

This cutting-edge infrastructure initiative is part of a next-generation circular city in Saudi Arabia, envisioned as a model for sustainable and digitally integrated urban living. The project spans multiple strategic sites and includes the design and development of over 15 buildings, 2 large-capacity water reservoirs, and 6 kilometers of utility culverts and access roads—all aligned with smart city planning principles.

Scope of Work

F2i was engaged to provide BIM and multidisciplinary design support across three interconnected sites, covering:

  • BIM modeling at LOD 350 for architectural, structural, MEP, and process engineering disciplines

  • Detailed design of buildings, reservoirs, culverts, and road networks

  • Masterplan integration and coordination across infrastructure systems

  • Access road design and modeling for reservoir approach routes

  • Digital twin readiness for long-term asset management and operational visibility

Results Delivered
F2i enabled high-level design accuracy and future-proof digital coordination for one of the region’s most ambitious smart infrastructure programs. Our BIM models supported streamlined engineering workflows, improved constructability, and ensured readiness for asset lifecycle management through digital twin integration. This project highlights F2i’s expertise in delivering complex utility and infrastructure solutions for large-scale, tech-driven developments in the Gulf region.

Improvement in Multidisciplinary Design Coordination Accuracy:
54%

Through BIM modeling at LOD 350 across architectural, structural, MEP, and process disciplines, F2i significantly enhanced design synchronization—resolving cross-discipline clashes and reducing rework by more than half compared to traditional coordination workflows.

Engineering Workflow Efficiency & Constructability Enhancement:
46%

With integrated modeling of reservoirs, culverts, and access roads, F2i streamlined complex utility engineering—accelerating approvals, reducing design cycles, and improving on-site constructability, especially for linear infrastructure components.

Digital Twin Readiness & Asset Lifecycle Integration:
61%

By embedding asset metadata, spatial coordination, and system intelligence into the BIM deliverables, F2i ensured long-term operability and monitoring capability—aligning the project with smart city digital twin standards from day one.
