Sustainable Coastal Boardwalk Development – Saudi Arabia
This landmark coastal boardwalk was envisioned as a pedestrian-friendly, nature-integrated public space enhancing leisure and tourism along the shoreline. Stretching approximately 4 kilometers, the structure was designed with sustainability, environmental harmony, and visitor safety in mind—blending natural materials with modern urban design principles.
Scope of Work
F2i was responsible for delivering both preliminary and detailed design services, including:
- Structural design of a 4 km wooden boardwalk
- BIM modeling and coordination with site-wide utilities and supporting services
- Integration of material specifications with environmental and durability standards
- Alignment of structural and service corridors with aesthetic and functional goals
Results Delivered
F2i produced high-accuracy BIM models and coordinated engineering layouts that supported efficient construction planning and compliance with sustainability and safety benchmarks. The final design contributed to a scenic, accessible, and eco-conscious waterfront experience in line with Saudi Arabia’s coastal development vision.
Design Accuracy & Environmental Compliance Alignment:
57%
F2i’s BIM modeling and material integration ensured that over half of potential environmental and structural compliance issues were preemptively addressed—delivering a resilient, regulation-ready design.
Improvement in Construction Planning & Execution Efficiency:
49%
Through detailed structural design and early utility coordination, F2i enabled efficient phasing and site setup—minimizing delays and ensuring streamlined execution across the 4 km stretch.
Integration of Aesthetic, Structural, and Service Corridors:
52%
By aligning visual design goals with structural and service requirements, F2i enhanced holistic design quality—ensuring over half the infrastructure met both functional and architectural performance targets without compromise.
